Cityscape Night #1

The strong color contrasts with iPhone paintings make the night-viewes really interesting, mixing shadows and high-lights.
Here is one of my first attempts.

I paint this one straight on my sketchbook, while fishing on the lake.
Then I used Brushes on the laptop to make it at my own idea.

French Polynesia #1

This is a painting for Kailea, daughter of my friend Chasta.
A view about the island they are living at.
Huahine, and the harbor with boats coming from all other islands of the French Polynesia.
This one comes from Papeete.



I did this painting while looking at two photos I took four years ago when I was travelling there.
I mixed the hut and pier from the first picture and I added some poeple from the 2nd pic, changing the place of the persons.

Well, I'm improving the oil painting skills.
Cool.
This one looks like a drawing and not a too close copy from the photograph.
I want more abstract strokes.

Olbia. Sardaigne.

I went to the Sardinia Island in Italia during springtime in 2008 and 2009.
Already painted some watercolors from these journeys.
Here is the first digital Oil-brush painting.
Not so bad, but doesn't sound really good to me.
Next one will be better !

Here is the photograph used for this painting at home.
I show this photo because some "friends" of mine asked if I used the photoshop settings to turn directly my photos into paintings with the software. I definitely want to show that the painting is not copied and pasted from the photo, it's really painted on a white paper, looking at the photo beside on the screen. You can see big differences about the lines and perspectives if you compare the model and the paintings.

San Francisco 1

I went to northern California four years ago.
San Francisco is now my favourite city ever, so many viewes there were definitely unforgettable.
Here is the first painting from this journey.
It was october, cool autumn weather.
I still have to work before catching my own way painting.
But already pretty good.

Bee Hives

Two bee-hives near my place in the Vercors Natural Park.
I'm practising the Oil-brush tool from software and it looks like cool.
But now, I have to find my own way of painting.
Not so easy.
Big deal coming to me.
That's life.

This painting comes from a photograph I took last autumn 2009 while the lake was really low tide.
I used the tool "Oil Brush" and I like the easy way to paint oil-brush-style on the iPad.
Probably I will keep on this idea.

Saint-Paul-les-Monestier

On the way to the daily kitesurf session at the Lake Monteynard, I drive along this country side near the village Saint-Paul-les-Monestier.
Sometimes, I stop, I waste a moment, looking at these fields, the forests, and the different colors when the seasons change.

Brussels city

I went to Brussels on august the 23th in order to help my 2nd daughter Charlotte to change place and go to Paris for her job.
I don't remember the name of this park with roses, trees, so quiet in the middle of the great city.
I was drawing directly in the park and was not used to feel people behind my shoulder looking at my doodles ;)
Normaly I'm definitely alone in the mountains while drawing.
Good experience.

Normaly I paint from my own photographs, that means I've been at this location and choose the view from my own feeling.
My opinion is that a painting from another photograph, seen in a magazine, is not really mine.
I call it "training".

Not so easy about painting landscapes during summer time, everything is green everywhere.
That' the reason why autumn is my favourite season for watercolors.
Winter time is great, as well.
